Extended Family | Naperville Photographer

Summer is a time of travel and holidays for many families. For some, that means family get togethers. That’s where I come in. I get to be the “weird aunt” or “crazy second cousin twice removed” and join families to help memorialize these occasions. A lot of the times, we do extended family sessions outdoors, but for this family, they came to my studio, located in downtown Naperville.

You can see the lovely color pallet of blues and greys that allowed them to each show their own personalities while also coordinating so that they look good together as a group. I’d also like to point out that it works to have shades of a color, too, as opposed to exactly matching a specific color.

And per usual, we photographed the individual families, as well. The best part of an extended family session is that it is basically a session for each family but for the price of one. Because I will do several poses of the full group, of each family, of the siblings of each family, of cousins, of grandparents with grandkids, of the adult couples, etc.  All possible mix and match situation is covered.

At the heart of it, it is all about family, after all. A moment when people are laughing together at the awkwardness of my super bad jokes. A memory of the hugs I made them do. An image to bring it all back.
