Naperville Photographer | A Talented Group

When people think of hiring their Naperville photographer for a family session, it is part of the norm when the kids are little.  They change so drastically year to year, that it isn’t odd to see families every year until the kids get a bit older. Then it is every two to three years.  But sometimes, I get the pleasure of having adult children with a family session. And let me tell you – it rocks!  Or maybe it is just this family that made it so great.  Having people who do exactly what I want (and who want to be there) is such a blessing to a photographer!

Now, this family had five children.  The younger two were teens, but the others were in their 20’s.  When I took this picture, I commented that they look like they could be a band!  And then little did I know that they were!  I so love this picture.

And of course, since I loved that one so much, I wanted to squeeze in mom and dad, too.  Posing with adult children can be a struggle, as no one is going to really snuggle like they do when kids are little, but this is a great example of how to still create closeness while being age appropriate.

Just one more of the siblings. Honestly, this entire session was great. It was hard to pick just the few to share here in the blog.

We did lots of family pictures, but at the end, we did headshots for the kids.  I wanted them to have something they loved and was individual to them.  Let’s start with the youngest brother. I just like this look.  I chose the background color to go well with the green jacket.

Now, big sister had her own vibe, and this was my favorite of her. I also loved the back of her shirt and wanted to include that in the image.

Now this brother was living in Nashville to try and make it as a singer. I actually follow him on Instagram and am rooting to hear him on the radio.  So I wanted to create an image he could use as an artist.  We both loved this one.  It’s moody and intriguing, which was what we were going for.  You can check him out at JoeHansonMusic.

Another reason I love sharing this session is to show how a studio family session doesn’t have to be boring. It can be totally awesome.  Without the distraction of setting, it becomes all about the people.  I also love the color tones they wore – everything sort of muted allow us to focus on the faces and not the clothing.
