Naperville Photographer | Winter conceptual photography

Every winter, I get the chance to do something more creative because it is my slower time of year where I have time to breathe, and time to think of something new to do.  In the past, I have been drawn to teen girls with long, dark hair, dark eyes wearing black with red as an accent color.  I’ve loved those, and obviously I’m drawn to the dark side. LOL  But this year, I decided to go light.  I chose this beautiful teen girl with waist-length blonde hair and light blue eyes, and no read this year.  I wanted everything light, so we went with whites.  I had things in mind, but then it all turned the morning of the session as I was showering and a specific image popped into my head, which turned my original plans of a frosty ice princess into a futuristic icy look.

My hair and makeup team had a blast creating this unique look.  I had told them that I didn’t want anything realistic or that would be worn out in public.  This was a conceptual shoot, and I wanted futuristic and wintery – big and bold like you would see on high couture runways.  I think they definitely accomplished it!  Check out the brown straw stuff in her hair.  Never would have thought of it, but love the result.  And those white, crazy lashes are actually feather lashes.  In order to get both edgy and pretty images, we decided to shoot both inside and outdoors.

This was the specific image that was in my head. I had no idea if we could really accomplish it, but after many attempts, we did!

I had purchased this mask for what was originally in my head.  With these crazy feather lashes, it was difficult to use, so I only did a few pictures with it on.

So we had enough of the cool, edgy stuff.  Then it was time for soft and pretty. Time for my winter princess.

I had so much fun doing this session.  A great way to end the winter season before we head into Chicago’s ugly spring of cold and mud. 😉
