Ballet Dancers | Naperville Photographer

I was pulling pictures from my Athlete Mini sessions and noticed I had four separate ballet dancers and thought it would be nice to have a post dedicated just to them! While I love creating athlete pictures, and love working with dancers, it is a unique experience to work with ballerinas on pointe. I did not want to just create the typical  beautiful images. Instead, I wanted to showcase their strength as well as their beauty.

Let’s start with the youngest of these dancers and the most traditional pose, but you can’t go wrong with that perfect circle of the tutu.

 

The above was actually the younger sister to this next dancer. She was the oldest of these four and so she had been on pointe the longest, and it showed. We agreed we wanted to create unique movements. This one is definitely one of my all time favorites. Sort of a jazz walk, but I love everything about it – her lines, the attitude. One of the things I really wanted to do with these dancers that was outside the norm was to have them not wear tights. I wanted their muscles to speak for themselves.

 

Speaking of athleticism, this next girl was ready to leap and bound away to show off her skills. I loved the shape her hair took as she did this.

 

This last one was always one of my favorites because of the unique pose. Her gorgeous hair against the neutral colors and the willowy bend of her arms and back create such a special image. She could not hold this pose for long, but I didn’t need her to. It was perfect.
