I always love including fur babies (also known as dogs to some callous hearts) into family sessions. And for this family, there was no way they would ever consider doing family pictures without their beloved Golden Retrievers.

 

I am still digging out of sessions from a few years ago, so these boys are so much older now, which is my bad. But the reason we of course would always include this family’s dogs is because they are the owners of the Doggie Depot in Downers Grove. Do you think they love their dogs or human boys more? I bet it depends on the day. LOL

 

This location in Oak Brook is a perfect spot for some boys to play around and take the dogs on a walk. While I love a good posed portrait, it is also just fun to let kids be kids. And for this one, it was rock climbing the wall.

 

But who can resist a closeup to stare into your child’s eyes? I adore seeing the gaps in his smile, marking this time forever.

 

When it all comes down to it, family is everything. It is the only thing. And it is a gift to be able to look back at pictures to help remember the good times, or the times when the kids were little, a time when the dogs were still with us. Pictures are a way of preserving time and memories. Don’t take them for granted.
