Making Time for Memories | Oak Brook Photographer
When is the right time for family pictures? People obviously look for a photographer for the big times of life – weddings, newborns, etc. Some families make it tradition to update family pictures annually. This is especially common when the kids are little because they change so much year to year. But as kids get older, and life gets busier, it is easy for it to be pushed to the side.
We tend to remember the importance of capturing the whole family again when a child is a high school senior, and we see the change of them leaving the house on the horizon. Such was the case for this family. Their eldest son was graduating and heading off to college soon, so what better time to update their family portraits?

And while we were there, of course I made sure to focus on everyone together, as well as individually.

One more of the middle child. Hard to believe that since this time, I have also already don’t senior pictures of this young man, too!

But the real reason we gathered on this day was for me to be their family photographer. We did family pictures in several spots, but this is my favorite one from this session. Was this location perfect, or what? I loved how there was that bit of sun light hitting behind them, yet I kept them in the shade while adding my own strobe lighting.

I bet since this session, their youngest has grown a ton. I can’t wait to see her when she is a senior, too!

So if you are wondering when you should do your next family photoshoot, why not this year? And don’t forget, we have a great studio to handle sessions in these colder months.
