With the end of my busy fall season which is full of families, I move into winter – my slow season full of babies. 🙂 It’s wonderful to slow down and breathe again and get a chance to cuddle with some newborn love. This little girl was thirteen days old when she came into the studio with her family. Along for the day was her big sister – an adorable toddler who was full of life, but who didn’t know what to think about my studio lights at first. I always start newborn sessions with the family pictures, so siblings can be done early and relax. Well, when I started taking pictures, she did NOT like the lights. I think it was the sound of the pop they make. She would be fine, but then squirm to get away if I brought up my camera. I’ll admit it was hard going at first.
So we took a break for mom to feed the baby, and I played with big sister on the bed, where she finally warmed up. I was tossing her onto it, and she was having fun being silly. I then brought over a light and showed her the red Test button on the back and had her set it off. I laughed and made a big deal about her doing, which got her in the mood to do it again. After a bit, she was no longer scared, and we were able to get everyone over to the bed.
Our little newborn baby was wide awake and alert.
After this, it was time for some one on one with baby Lily. It took awhile for her to finally settle down to sleep, but then we were off!
I captured one of her sleepy smiles!
