We lucked out with a gorgeous day for our family session. It was a tad windy, but at least we had buildings to help block it. This was a new family for me with two energetic, crazy boys. LOL What kept them focused? Well, at first it was a bit of mystery – telling them I’d show them a secret door. Then later it was the promise of a leaf fight if they could just make it through the session. Thank goodness for the promise of a leaf fight, otherwise I may have lost them half way through. We went to the barn location and brought along my red couch (by request). We got so much variety – formal portrait, cool poses, playful fun. Who says a family session can’t give a ton of options, as well as a great experience?
While I love a bright, sunny day, there was one problem with it. Their oldest son has aphakia in his left eye and is super sensitive to the light with that eye and had trouble opening that eye. And while I can fix that with editing, I left it alone. It is part of who he is. I’ve been loving the plaid families have been wearing this fall.
The little guy was getting tired at this point and ready to just go home. But nothing some tickling couldn’t fix.
And here’s one from our play time where the kids had a blast throwing leaves.
We also got some of just mom and dad. Can I tell you how much I adore this picture of them? I’m frankly jealous and want one of me and my husband!
Fall family portraits – definitely a Chicago tradition. Fall is coming to a close, but don’t worry, Firefly Nights Photography also does holiday pictures if you like. And we also are here for all of your portrait needs throughout the year.
