Did you know that Firefly Nights Photography sells gift certificates?  I seem to sell them mostly for newborn sessions, like this one.  This little girl’s new aunt wanted to give her sister the gift of a newborn photography session, and I’m so glad she did!  I always recommend having your newborn session as early as possible – ideally between five and ten days of life whenever possible.  I know it can be difficult.  We almost didn’t get to have a true newborn session because mom is Chinese, and in Chinese traditional culture, babies shouldn’t leave the house for the first 30 days.  I let her know it was obviously up to her, but at 30 days, we are looking at a baby session, not really newborn.  Thankfully, she was going to have to break tradition anyway in order to go for her one week check up, so we scheduled on the same day as that, so she wasn’t making an extra trip out of the house.

Her husband is Argentinian – I bring this up because they both wanted a picture to showcase their ethnicity and brought along some props to make it happen.  But first, let me introduce you to this lovely new family of three.

 

I did pull a lot of red for our session as a tribute to her Chinese half.  She was a tiny little thing, weighing in under six pounds.

 

So she is born in the year of the sheep in the Chinese calendar.  Mom brought along this sheep costume.  We put it on my small teddy bear and propped her like this.

 

Dad brought along an Argentina soccer jersey and this little ball, complete with headband and leg warmer/socks.

 

Now back to our more traditional newborn pictures.

 

 

 

Then of course we had to do some basket pictures.
