Naperville Photographer, Downers Grove Photographer | Extended Family

A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of photographing this family with their dogs.  It was a mainly a pet session.  This time, they had family coming into town for Thanksgiving and wanted an extended family portrait session.  We had grandma and grandpa, their four adult children, spouses, and two grown grandchildren.  We debated between having them come to the studio or me going to their house, but I left it to them to decide.  Their home won out.  I brought a couple of my studio lights, and was thankful that with so many men around, I had easy laborers at hand to move furniture. 😉  If only I had such assistants all the time!

Sometimes with extended family sessions, they can be a pain, especially when someone hates having their pictures done.  Many times, at least one person’s sour mood can infect the others.  But with this gang, there was nothing but laughter and jokes, and maybe a little alcohol. LOL

 

 

When I photograph extended families, I make sure to get every possible break out.  My gallery for this session is very large because there were so many different arrangements.  We had to make sure to get the grandparents with their adult children.

 

Then of course you have to get the grandchildren and grandparents.

 

Okay, this next one was a joke.  It was a reenactment of a photograph they have when they were are little children and babies. LOL  I hope they put it up right next to it.  How hilarious!  I told you these guys were fun.

And at the very end, we had to get the beloved dogs in a picture, though one was not so happy about so many people in his home.
