Naperville Photographer, Downers Grove Photographer | My Girl

People always comment upon hearing that I am a professional photographer, “Oh, you must have so many great pictures of your kids!”  Um, no.  LOL  I have to schedule them like everyone else, and I rarely pick up a camera when not working.  So I am a bad mom and was over a month late in taking my daughter’s 6 year pictures.  I can’t believe she is six years old now!  She is still very much a little girl, though evolving with the emergence of sass and spunk.  It is always difficult for me to photograph my own children because they know my tricks, and it is harder for me to get natural expressions out of them.  Especially with my girl here.  She was all about giving me cheesy expressions and fake smiles. LOL  Oh well, it is the age…

Now, when we talked about taking her pictures, she had something in mind.  “I want to wear my sunset dress and be the Sunset Queen!  Like where I’m holing the sun in my hands as it is coming down.”  Is she my daughter or what?! LOL  The dress is one we simply call her sunset dress because of the colors.  We went across the street one evening to get some of these.

Now, remember how I said she was all about the fake expressions?  Well, here are some of the many funny faces of my girl. LOL  I think she was equally frustrated with me! 😉

 

But then we did get some gorgeous ones.

 

 

I love how you can really see all her emerging freckles in this one.  She says we are “freckle buddies”!

 

So, she wanted to be the Sunset Queen.  Well, here is my edit for her.  Cheesy?  Yes, but made my 6 yr old happy?  Definitely!

 

For the other part of our session, I wanted something that really reflected her personality and who she is right now.  Well, my lovely girl is OBSESSED with candy.  What better than putting her in a candy store?

 

 

 

This last one I truly love, but she looks so old! I don’t even recognize her here.  *sniff, sniff*
