Extended Family | Naperville Photographer, Downers Grove Photographer
I truly enjoy the challenge of posing and photographing large extended families. This group of 12 takes the cake as my largest thusfar. The day before had been raining, and this day threatened rain all morning, but by the time we had our session, the sun was out. It was a gorgeous day. So this group is grandma & grandpa, their two adult children and their respective families of five each. It was easy to photograph such a handsome group. The hardest part for me was the size discrepancies. We had an 18 month old toddler all the way up to 6 foot 7 inches! But we managed to get a great amount of variety.
Photographing families with teenage children changes the dynamic of the posing, and this sort of positioning worked great for them.
But posing families with young children presents other obstacles when there are toddlers – because they tend to run the show and you have to do what makes them happy. But letting them be usually results in natural images like this.
Of course, we had to get grandma & grandpa with just the grand kids.
And last but not least, all the cousins together!
