This Little Piggy | Naperville Photographer
This little one was all smiles from the moment she arrived at the studio. Six months is such a sweet milestone – babies are sitting, smiling, and full of personality. Don’t worry if your six month old isn’t fully sitting right at six months. I love this stage for portraits because babies tend to be super happy balls of chubby goodness. LOL They are expressive and curious, but still small enough to pose in cozy, natural ways. And the best part? They aren’t mobile, yet!
So let’s get this stroll down memory lane underway. It is not the norm for me to do a prop set for a 6 month session, but this mom requested my fair set. I have mushrooms stored that I can bring out upon request, and this beautiful Money-inspired backdrop is perfect. Just look at this little cutie!!
One of my favorite poses for little ones around this age is to get them playing with their own feet. It is a natural thing that babies do anyway, and so I love to capture the way they play. I usually have mom or dad stand above them to get them happy because they have probably been on their bed and on their back with their parents as they played with them.
This little piggy went to market… Who doesn’t love little baby toes?! I let mom and dad play with the baby for a bit and then I step in to get the baby to look at me and get those great big eyes looking a the camera.
Let’s jump to a totally different look that we did. Going from the light and bright to a dark and moody set. If you have looked through my work, you know I love me some boxes. I don’t know why, but I love using boxes in my work. I have SO MANY flowers in storage to be pulled out whenever needed, but I do love the colors of sunflowers. The golden tones against the richness of the chocolate brown backdrop is just beautiful.
Ok, back to the sweet ones. Every parent spends countless hours staring into the eyes of the babies, so I love getting a great closeup where a baby is staring into the camera. Look at those big eyes and little lashes!
Last image for me to share is this laughing one. Getting belly laughter from babies is the ultimate win. It is impossible not to laugh with them. If a baby laugh doesn’t make you laugh or at least smile, I suggest psychiatric intervention.
