Fall Family Pictures | Naperville Photographer

Yes, I still suck at keeping up with blogging. Totally different season, and even different YEAR! Ugh. But it is always fun to look back on these sessions and remember families I haven’t seen in a while. Hmm, maybe I will see them soon. Now that we are in summer, weather is ready to jump back into family sessions! I have plenty of recommendations for locations based on the look your family wants for their family portraits.

Photographing this beautiful family on a November day. There were almost no leaves left on the trees, but finding a spot with evergreens made it unimportant. Their fall clothing was perfect in its color palette. And, yes, early November is actually a great time for outdoor pictures for the past several years. We have been warmer longer, so keep that in mind!

Being a family photographer, I love posing families. I see each family or group like a Tetris game – I have to see how they fit together in different ways. There is no “one pose works for all” because sizes, heights, ages, etc all make a difference in how the final pose will loos. We always want it to be age appropriate, so with these girls, there wasn’t going to be sitting on mom or dad’s lap. LOL But sitting side by side on a wall worked!

These sisters were all smiles and giggles and so easy to work with since they got along so well. But I always try to limit these posts to only 5-6 images, which means I am choosing to show their individual pictures over the sibling shots. And their personalities really shined, showing just how different each one was.

From the youngest above being the outgoing, fearless one, to the quiet and serious middle child. I liked this setting with her.

To the sweet oldest sister who was a mix of both!

Let’s finish up with one last family portrait. This aisle of trees is always a great picture for fall. Photographers flock here, unfortunately. This late in the season, we were on our own, which was so nice. Whether fall or summer and filled with green leaves, this spot always makes for a great family portrait.
