Naperville Photographer | 50 Years of Love

When people get married, they are so filled with love and hope for the future.  Certain that whatever life throws at them, they will get through it together.  Believing that nothing can break their bond.  Unfortunately, this is not always the case.  Love does not always last, nor do marriages.  But some do.  There are those whose love weathers the storms of life, tightening their bond. This lovely couple contacted me because they wanted to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with some pictures together.  I just have to say, they were awesome.  They were up for anything.  You can tell she has plenty of personality!  And I love that color on her.

After a bit, I asked them what was their song.  Get this, neither of them could remember!  So I put on the Tony Bennett Pandora station and had them dance.  And you know what happened when they began moving?  They relaxed and smiled and had a great time.

Then it was time for some traditional pictures.

 

But, if you know me, you know I don’t do too much traditional.  Having people actually laugh and enjoy each other gives me far more pleasure.

 

Having been married for almost 15 years, I can only hope that I get to have a similar experience some day – dancing with my husband of 50 years to Harry Conick Jr’s It Had to be You.  His hand in mine will be as familiar to me as the skin on my body.  His eyes, a tug on my heart.  And his arms like home.

Happy 50th anniversary, you two kids!  May you have many, many more.  May we all.
