Chicago Model Photographer, Naperville Photographer
I tend to enjoy my job. Every client is a different experience. My brain gets to do new things, see light differently on every face, think up new, creative ideas. I get to make people happy and get them smiling – genuinely. I get to make people feel good. Like I said, my job is pretty darn cool. I really get to enjoy myself when I work with clients who know how to work a camera. I had the pleasure of photographing this fun seven year old recently. She needed to update her modeling comp card for her agency. Through the whole “small world” connections, they came across Firefly Nights Photography. We knew we wanted to do mainly studio pictures, but I also was hoping to get a couple outside in natural light. Unfortunately, it was a very rainy day on this day. Thankfully, I had come prepared and with an idea.
We started with the eyelighter to do a great closeup and really show up her blue eyes.
Then I wanted to try it with grey, as I’m a fan of more neutral backgrounds to let it be more about her. You can see that great smirky grin that she has.
Then we changed clothes and hairstyle with some braids. In her last comp card, her hair was blonde. Crazy how dark it has gotten in the last year.
I really love this one. So much mischief in those eyes.
Then another outfit change and hairstyle. We went outside and stood on my patio, out of the rain. I brought out one of lights to help.
Then…yes, another outfit and hairstyle, but also set up in studio. When she smiles like this, she has such a deep dimple on her right side that it looks like a hard line going across her cheek.
Ok, maybe this one is my favorite. A true, natural smile. You can tell she got more comfortable as we went along.
So, we were done, but I asked if she were willing to try something. If it didn’t work out, oh well. I brought along my daughter’s umbrella. I had a hood on my lens. It was raining pretty good at this point. I had her dad be responsible for her, and I went a ways down. Then we looked for a break in traffic, ran out into the middle of the street, snapped a couple images, waved a thank you to the cars waiting, and back to the studio. LOL
