Photographing headshots is easy – doing really good ones is not so much.  You would think it would be the easiest thing in the world, but getting the right personality displayed (through posing and lighting choices) actually takes a lot of thought. I had the pleasure of having two headshot clients recently.  First up is this adorable young lady who is pursuing a career in acting, even majoring in it at Millikan University.  And while she had some headshots done by a friend, she needed some professional ones, as she was honored enough to be invited to a special thing.  Don’t ask me, because I don’t remember the details, but it was a big deal to be asked to audition for this thing.  While she wasn’t with me very long, I had a blast with her.  It is amazing to work with someone who knows how to play to the audience – in this case, my camera.  She was a photographer’s dream, and I can totally see her someday being up on the screen.  I hope I get to one day say, “Hey, I took her pictures before she was famous.”  Maybe one will even be up on IMDB.com someday. 😉  Good luck, Katie!  I hope I get to see more of you.

Next up was a total fluke.  This guy ran into me while I was heading into the studio to pack up some gear for an onsite session.  Total luck I just happened to be there.  He was in town only for that day and was walking past the studio and remembered that he needed some good headshots, too.  I squeezed him in for later that day.  Now what I love about his headshots is the different looks we captured.

We have the approachable businessman.  A trustworthy guy.

 

We have the powerful businessman, owner of an international IT company.

 

And then we have the real him – a total T-shirt guy.  I love this one.
