With our horrible summer weather, getting pictures done has been a little trying.  I was scheduled to take this family’s portraits at their home, hoping to be outside in their beautiful backyard.  On this day, however, it was drizzling on and off, very dark, and super muggy and humid.  We opted to stay inside their home.  When I do sessions inside someone’s home, I rearrange things a bit to try to make the pictures the best they can be.  Thankfully, they had a beautiful house, so it was only a matter of moving coffee tables and pictures and books, etc, so there is less clutter in a picture. We always want the focus of our portraits to be on the subjects – the family.

They were great sports with all of the work, and the kids cracked me up.  Their daughter just graduated college and their son is getting ready to start his senior year in high school.  Definitely a time of transition coming up, which always makes for a great time to have family photography – to capture these times of change.  And I love their outfits – they look great together without being overly matchy.

 

 

 

 

When we were almost done, I stepped outside. It wasn’t actively raining, though still very humid and dark.  I brought my lights outside, and we did just a few quick ones out there.  Amazing how adding light outside can change everything.
