It has been a while since I worked with this toy company.  Since then, they were bought by another company, so now I get the honor and pleasure of working for both companies.  Each one has a different look.  One tends to like studio lighting and lots of negative space to write things as well as a certain crop.  They tend to like bright colors. The other company is strictly natural lighting and less posed.  I love photographing toys for commercial purposes with children.  Kids tend to simply be happy to play, and that is what I want from them.  What was great, was there were a couple of times I needed two models.  These kids were strangers to each other, yet within minutes, they were laughing and giggling and being crazy.  I’m not sure when it ends, but for kids – if you are about the same size, then you must be a friend.  Gotta love that!  🙂

First up was actually the last I shot.  I love that mom quickly put her hair in braids to match the doll’s.  She didn’t want the experience to end.

 

 

This smiley guy was the first model, and he was nothing but smiley and happy.  What a gorgeous boy with tons of energy!

 

 

These two were totally nutty together as they played with the butterfly nets.  You would have thought they were old friends.

Lastly, when I was asked to photograph toys for these companies, I specifically asked if they would want to include models with special needs.  I am very happy to announce that they were all for it.  I put out a casting call for children with Down Syndrome and was overwhelmed by candidates.  I’m sure I will use more in the future, but first up with this guy who again played with a stranger.  The two had so much fun together.  As young children, they don’t see differences, only playmates.  🙂
