Chicago Newborn Photographer, Naperville Newborn Photographer
Well, this little lady wins the award for my smallest newborn in studio. Sure, some have had smaller babies but by the time they see me, they are usually over five pounds. But this little peanut was only four and a half pounds! She was so obviously little, but really, she didn’t seem that tiny. She was nine days old when I met her and was seriously incredibly alert for so young! We got some gorgeous family pictures, but mom and dad don’t want their pictures online. I have to respect their privacy and am grateful they allowed me to share their newborn daughter…though I really wish I could share this one family image – stunning!
Remember how I said she was very alert? Well, that is an understatement. Most babies sleep for most of the session, waking to eat and fuss, but eventually go back to sleep. This little girl seriously slept only a few minutes in three full hours. She was also a very light sleeper, so if she was asleep, it only lasted a few seconds until she would wake herself with the slightest movement. It was a challenging session, but obviously, we still got some great newborn pictures of this little sweetheart.
I always love this peacock nest.
We also got to use my brand new basket, which I love!! Obviously, only small babies are going to fit here. I love the purity of the white.
So, I said she was awake almost all the time? Well, here is a trick if you want a baby to appear sleeping. I use studio lighting, so with the bright light flashing, they tend to blink against it after it fires, so if I shoot two to three times quickly, I will get one with her eyes open and another with them peacefully closed. Like this.
Also love my new coral blanket!
