Naperville Family Photographer, Elmhurst Photographer | Beautiful Family

I have always had a soft spot for this family.  Years ago, I first met them and did a great session at their home, one I still remember.  And at that time, their son really reminded me of my own, even though he is a couple years older.  They share similar traits.  Now that they are older, I think they even look a little alike (my son agrees), though their personalities are different.  Their daughter is also like an older version of my own – all girl, all diva. LOL

It was a VERY cold day for our session, but they were prepared with winter coats and blankets and gloves.  So I would set up while they were bundled, then call for them to shed it off and toss the side.  Then I would take a few quick pictures and tell them to get bundled again.  I had fingerless gloves, but boy, I was cold!  At least it was sunny, and the kids were old enough to bear with it.

Ok, I have to share this story.  So their son has Asperger’s, which means we struggle with getting natural facial expressions from him, though his fake smiles are really pretty good.  Well, he really loves the movie Anchor Man.  So at this point, I ask him to tell me his favorite quote from the movie.  He immediately looks at his parents and says, “But it has a swear word!”  His parents (we are all freezing and ready to be done) tell him to just say it.  “You are saying I get a FREE PASS to swear?”  They assure him he isn’t going to get in trouble, just say it.  Well, he starts cracking up because of the combined thrill of being told you can swear and also the quote which makes him laugh.  Well, he can barely talk because he is laughing so hard, and this makes all of us start crying with laughter because it is just so funny.

I have no idea what he actually said, though I did here when he dropped the F-Bomb.  We all yelled, WHOA!  I think we were all thinking he would say the S word or A word, so when that F one fell out, we were shocked, but still laughing because he immediately yelled to his parents, “You told me to say it!” to which they said, Yes, now don’t ever say it again.  It was seriously one of the funniest moments.

It is never too late to do family portraits.  Fields like these don’t require leaves, so they are good all year long.  And as long as you bundle between shots, we can make it happen, even in snow.  Of course, you are always welcome to come into the studio, as well.  If you are looking for a maternity, newborn, baby, child, high school senior, or family photographer, we hope you consider Firefly Nights Photography.  We are located in downtown Naperville and easily serve all of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.
