Family Reunion | Naperville Family Photographer, Hinsdale Photographer
This extended family session set my new record for most people at 22 people. We had a beautiful day for our session, but it started off with some major drama – almost a catastrophe from my standpoint. We were to meet at my favorite location for large family sessions. It has a big fallen log that I use for posing large groups. It is a city park. Well, i get there, and see some dressed up people and think, “this must be some of my group”. But nope… I’ve had to jockey for position with other photographers at times, and it isn’t the end of the world, but that wasn’t exactly the case. There was an actual wedding set up in the park – as in about 50-75 chairs set up – right in my area!! Weddings and wedding photographers always take precedent over portrait sessions. At least for me. Well crap – that’s putting my thoughts nicely. There was no way to use my spot. I didn’t even realize you COULD have a wedding in a public park like that?? So I’m scrambling, try to think of alternative locations. Had I known, I would have brought out couches or something for posing purposes, and we could have gone to the field nearby. Since this was such a large group, they didn’t want to bother going anywhere else. So we went into the woods to an opening and at least found some benches to use. They were wonderful sports, considering this was certainly not my original plan. They could have been angry or irritated, but instead, they were full of love and laughter, and inappropriate jokes. LOL
I’m thankful for their wonderful attitudes. It made all the difference!
