Watson | Chicago Naperville newborn photographer, Downers Grove newborn photographer
I love trying new things, and when I met this couple during their maternity session, I had a vision of a family picture after talking with them. I also knew I would be trying different ideas, as they wanted some prop images (which I don’t usually do). So they brought in most of the props you see below. Their baby boy, Watson, was a dream. He slept through all the transitioning and posing. At 8 days old, he was perfection….almost. Little Watson here holds the new record for peeing and pooping everywhere. LOL Seriously, in the beginning, he spit up all over his dad – not just a little, but a lot. Then, as I am holding him, changing scenes, he starts to pee. I quickly stand and hold him over the wood floors (easier to clean). Then a minute later, as I’m still holding him in my bare hands, he poops all over. Sigh. Then much later, as mom has him, he pees all over her shirt. And again later, he poops while she is holding him. Seriously, good thing I have Clorox. LOL
But, it was all worth it, as that family shot is my new favorite (you’ll know it when you see it). The guitar, bed, and owl hat are all the parents’. The bike was, too, but I decided to keep it, so it is an option for future pictures.
I’ve decided I really love people hanging out against my wall.
Now I would like to point out something. When you see photographs like the below, if they are done right, they are composits. Meaning, they are more than one image merged together. This is for safety reasons. If a photographer ever tries to balance a baby on something, it is your duty as parents to either not allow it, or keep your hands on the baby. In this image, the baby truly is lying on the guitar, but mom is holding his butt and back, while dad has his head. Then I took a picture while mom lifted a hand, then dad lifted a hand, so that combined, it looks like no one is there with him.
We went outside for this last shot.
