Kinzie | Wheaton Warrenville South High School | Wheaton Naperville senior photographer
Be prepared, this is going to be a doozy. When I was asked to photograph Kinzie and her horse, I was excited. As a child, my family had Morgan horses, and I spent many hours riding. It has been a long time since I’ve been around horses, though. This session was originally going to happen in October, but on the day of their shoot, it rained. We decided to wait for snow, and I immediately had an image in my head of a snow covered winterscape, a girl in white or cream on the horse and a flowing red scarf. I got so hooked on this mental image that I decided to make it the main image in my viewing room at the studio (without even having taken the picture, yet). Thank goodness it turned out beautifully.
This is being made into a 30×40 canvas to hang above my red couch:
This day was COLD. I photographed with snow boots, gloves, scarf wrapped up to my nose, hat, and snow coat, with two layers underneath. LOL Kinzie was certainly a trooper, and her beautiful horse, Shiloh was a sweetheart. I have to say one more thing about the above image. We left Shiloh’s pen to go into a large open area where several other horses were. One was immediately nosey and wouldn’t leave us alone, but was gentle. While I shot this, Kinzie calls over “watch out”. I turn to see a large stallion trotting quickly at me. I stopped and held my ground and started backing away. That horse didn’t want me there and was making it clear. I got thee shots in and quickly backed away and back into the safe pen. Whew!
Ok, on to the rest of the session. This high school senior was beautiful. I loved every minute of the session. I’m so excited to be able to be a Naperville senior photographer.
