I always recommend doing newborn photographs as early as possible, but sometimes, it just doesn’t work out. I met little Barrett here at three weeks of age. He was no longer in the mood to curl up, but I did enjoy some very alert baby blues. He was very interested in my giant softbox. And while he was awake for most of the time, he was calm and serene. I had a great time hanging out with the new parents, as well.
It is rare to see young eyes so focused and clear. We couldn’t get him to NOT look at the lights. LOL
Since he was wide awake, we tried swaddling him.
He even cracked a smile at me.
But the funniest part of this session – which had us seriously laughing out loud, started when we put him in the bowl. Since he was awake, I put him on his back to see if he would stay still. He did and seemed to be enjoying himself. I just love this shot.
So he’s in this bowl, and I always take care to position babies or myself so that their privates aren’t showing. Well, as I’m explaining this to the parents, he lays his legs perfectly crossed, like he knew what I was doing. And I think I said, “exactly like this!” And no sooner were the words out of my mouth than he flops his legs wide open and just looks at me like, “yeah, this is the way I roll.” It was hilarious.
After a while, we finally got him to sleep.
